#11 (because the title is to big)

This walk was nice because it was full of monuments that were in popular areas but you never really hear about them because they get over shadowed. So here are my favorite points this walk. First destination was the Musee de Cluny. I liked this museum because I wasn't over whelmed by it. It was small and focused on just medieval pieces. i get pretty over whelmed by museums but this one was easy to go through and I was happy I didn't miss out on anything. I just wish they could have had some more info in English because I wanted to know what some things were.
The next stop that I enjoyed was of course the lovely Pantheon. I loved that when you walked in all there was to see was the structure. There is no furniture or anything distracting and I loved that. The domes in the Pantheon are an architectural feet in their selves but the best part about them is all the detailed stone work. They are truly remarkable and detailed to perfection. These are also very pristine and clean. This building looks like it was built in the 20's because of the color and style of it. I also loved how all of the murals are depicting cultural events of Paris instead of religious. Another part of the murals i enjoyed was how they were broken up by the columns. It added a diffrent element to them that made them more interesting.
The next stop on out tour was the St-Etienne-du-Mont Church. I don't know what I liked more, either the purple doors or the swirling stair cases. This church was just unique and cool. I loved the look of it and I loved how different it was because of the bridge that went through it. The outside was pretty as well because it wasn't symmetrical which was unique.

The Last stop was the Roman Arena. I enjoyed it because it was recently discovered but because I have been to Rome I wasn't very intrigued by it.

Over all I enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to others.

OHHH METROOOO

I was dreading this walk so I wanted to get it out of the way in the beginning, and I am happy that I did. Basically I did it and I understand the Metro more and I have an appreciation for this great system of public transportation that the Parisians have offered. We had to go above ground to see some Metro entrances and that was nice, I have done a room in Art nouveou style so i did appreciate the craftsman ship if Art nouveou that most of the entrances had. It was cool to see line 14 since its the new station. We sat at the front of the train but couldn't see anything since it was all black. Another cool part was to speed by the Eiffel tower, it was night at this point so the lights were on and it glowed by super fast.

The smells in the metro and the heat that the trains sometimes have are my least favorite part. I really like how quite and respectful Parisians are on the train. On one of the trains there was one lady who had to stand and she was reading, but every time the train stoped she would kind of stumble or sway to much which made her loose her place in her book. She started to get really frustraited by this and at one point air punched the door. I think that was the highlight of my metro riding because it brought on some tired laughter that was needed. This tour was long and gave me a headache after a while but I did appreaciate how it taught me about the metro more. The Metro is a great and well kept system.
Paris in Layers

This walk was something that I have done before so I wasn't really excited for it. It started out at Hotel De Ville which is very ornate and nice to see. Next was Notre Dame. It was a good day to see Notre Dame because the sun was out which made the stained glass vibrant and colorful. Notre Dame is always a little overwhelming for me and endless, but it was still interesting. My favorite part was when music started to play. It was really beautiful and something I had never experienced before.

The next destination that I favored was the "Palais de Justice" I mainly like this building just for the gates in front of it. The gates are so ornate and dramatic that they are my favorite gates I have ever seen. I want to have these gates in front of one of my future homes. The next stop that I favored was the inside of Sainte-Chapelle. The colors of this building are my favorite. I love the navy blue and gold everywhere. Its just the image of timeless royalty to me, and since it was built to hold important religious relicks it accomplishes a look of great importance. I love this church so much and it has the best stain glass windows in my opinion. Even though some of them were covered, you still got an impact.

Overall I liked this tour, somethings were unforgettable but for the most part it was a good tour and monumental for me.

The town of Montmartre

This is my first Paris walks Blogg. The first Walk I ventured on was the "Montmartre Walk". This walk over all was overwhelming, interesting, treacherous, one of a kind, unpredictable. The first place we started out at was the amazing "Basilique du Sacre-Coeur". I felt that this church was truly remarckable. I have always enjoyed Notre Dame and felt that its beauty was one of a kind and so unique but this church changed my opinion of Notre Dame. I felt like Sacre-Coeur was so prestine and had a glow about it, I loved that you couldn't take pictures inside because when someone tells you that you know right off the bat that they want this place to be respected and restored through time. When we were walking through there was a service going on which was very nice to witness. I had no idea what was being said but still enjoyed it. My favorite part was the dome ceiling above the podium that had a mural of Jesus and an angel. It was so sparkly and beautiful and you really had to look for it. It wasn't in your face or over noticeable and it was a huge hidden jem. The outside was so beautiful and kind of had the look of a russian castle to me because it was so pointy. I also loved how bright the stone still was. The view was really fun too because you could pick out different monuments.

Then we went to another small church that was quant and kind feeling. We then walked around to different places that all had meaning. There was a square with artists that really had beautiful work and some had cheapo tourist work. We then went to the oldest house in Montmartre. Is was cool to see a home that has been there since the twelfth century and the oldest cabaret in Paris.

Another highlight was to see where Renoir lived and other places where impressionists made their mark or just lived and explored. The St. Denis statue was very cool to see since he is holding his head, the story thst went along with it was interesting as well. We were told that he was beheaded and picked his head up and carried it down Montmarte.

The next spot that made an impression on me was the see the windmill that Renoir had painted the dance scene at. That is a painting that I have seen before so I was really excited to see where it took place. Those were the main highlights of this walk and I would do it again, and recomend it to others.
